Abstract


A STUDY OF THE BLACK SEA FOLK SONGS WITH THE FLUTE PRACTICE

This study aims to explain how the flute is used and adapted to the folk songs that belong to the Black Sea region
and it intends to investigate the folk songs in terms of melodic and structural characteristics as well as being able
to play these songs with flute and being able to put them in the curriculum of the instititions which provide
education of music.
In this  descriptive study -done with the method of quantitive research - content analysis has been made. Vocal
Black Sea folk songs–expressed in TRT repertoire and in the other resources-and 10 folks songs-chosen from the
region and studied by the experts in terms of flute availability- are included in this study as a research population
and a sample.
As it is required for the flute, folk songs adapted to the tamperemen system were performed using professional
notation programme. Besides this; folk songs which were  adapted to the flute techniques were notated. On the
other hand; the types and levels of the folk songs were determined and evaluated- taking the related outcomes into
account- by the experts in the fine arts high school. The findings were defined and interpreted. It has been found
that using folk songs will be functional while developing the flute technique and its outcomes.
